Being a big fan of Bruce Lee, I have always wanted to learn Wing Chun. Having a background from many external martial arts, I was very surprised to experience the power of an internal soft art. Now I get it. I very much recommend this class to anyone who wants to learn a no nonsense, practical self-defense system by instructors who are not after you money and care about your progression and development. The senior students are also great. No pretension, no egos–a safe learning environment. My family drives 45 mins from out of town every week to attend classes.
I could not have found a better kwoon to study in. After relocating to Portland from LA, where only a couple of Wing Chun schools exist, I have finally found a place that aligns with my sensibilities, philosophy, mechanics, spirituality, and profound attention to detail. Understanding the origins of Wing Chun and leaning heavily into that resonates so much for me, and the style of delivery of material is truly exceptional. Sifu Ray and Sijie Alyda have made a community of passionate, compassionate, and welcoming fellows where camaraderie, contemplation, and education come easy even to newcomers.
If you have any interest in martial arts, of any form, do yourself a favor and check out LHA. It never disappoints!
