Ip Man Wing Chun Lineage

At the Ving Tsun Athletic Association (VTAA) headquarters in Kowloon, Hong Kong, a mirror bears the names of Yip Man’s esteemed disciples. When reading the inscription from right to left, beginning from the top, the names unfold:
- Leung Sheung
- Lok Yiu
- Choy Shung Tin
- Lei Wing
- Yip Bo Ching
Among Yip Man’s notable students stands Wong Shun Leung, renowned for his prowess in combat, having engaged in hundreds of street fights across Hong Kong. Wong Shun Leung holds the distinction of being credited with the training of none other than Bruce Lee. Bruce Lee, an American martial arts icon, later created Jeet Kune Do.
Leung Sheung

Leung Sheung held the distinction of being Ip Man’s inaugural and most esteemed disciple. Upon Ip Man’s relocation to Hong Kong in late 1949, Leung Sheung, already recognized as a master of kung fu, crossed paths with him through a mutual acquaintance, who marveled at Ip Man’s exceptional skill. Legend has it that Leung Sheung would humbly remark, “You find me, you are lucky,” a sentiment echoed by the fact that his sole form of advertising was discreetly displayed within his school. All of his students were drawn to him through word of mouth alone. Explore further details about Leung Sheung and his remarkable contributions to Wing Chun.
Kenneth Chung

In 1965, Kenneth Chung embarked on his Wing Chun journey in Hong Kong, quickly distinguishing himself as one of Leung Sheung’s most outstanding pupils. A pioneer of Wing Chun in the United States, Ken is celebrated for his mastery of ‘soft force’, a skill that sets him apart. His touch renders other Wing Chun lineages akin to external arts in comparison. Delve deeper into the extraordinary story of Kenneth Chung and his impactful contributions to the world of Wing Chun.
